Edwin Loxley - Traditional & Farmhouse Style Kitchens
At their workshops in the heart of Nottingham, England, Edwin Loxley produce some of Britain’s finest kitchens. A recipe of highly skilled craftsmen, time honoured cabinet making skills and an abundance of beautiful natural timbers are used to bring creative and exciting furniture designs to life.
Many of the small construction details can not be seen when a piece of furniture is finished, however, they manifest themselves in day to day use, ensuring that Edwin Loxley furniture is both a pleasure to use and a delight to own. Solid hard wood door frames, extra thick doors, recessed butt hinges and dovetail jointed drawer boxes are just some of the hallmarks of the Edwin Loxley brand. This is furniture designed for a lifetime of use.
There are no standard ranges or sizes; The true pleasure in owning and living with Edwin Loxley furniture is the knowledge that your commission has been designed specifically to suit not only your tastes and requirements, but also the architectural proportions of your property.
- Cabinets - are made from solid 15mm thick Birch veneered plywood and have been especially designed to support the weight of the heaviest of worktops such as granite and marble.
- Doors - are hand crafted up to a full 30mm thickness making them both durable and less susceptible to the possibility of warping.
- Doorframes - are made from solid timbers. This adds to the structural strength of the furniture and reduces the possibility of the doorframe splitting around hinge stress points. Painted furniture features a maple doorframe and natural finished furniture features a frame made from a timber to either match or contrast with the door timbers.
- Hinges - are of the highest quality since they are in constant use and take a lot of strain. Two types are used; a traditional butt style hinge that has been recessed into the door for additional support or a flush mounted pewter finished finial hinge.
- Drawer boxes - are made from a 15mm thick Sycamore timber. They are dovetail jointed with solid 9mm plywood bases to ensure durability. The latest drawer runner technology means that the drawer boxes glide open and to a close with the lightest of touches.
